Gill is committed to your Track & Field programs, now, and ten years from now.  That’s why all our landing systems come with a full 10 year warranty.  If any failure occurs in the first 10 years, under normal use and care, we will repair or replace the damaged part.

M a t e r i a l s

 

Foam: All of our pits now include a denser, higher strength foam.  This foam has been tested to still provide a soft landing, but to keep its shape for longer period of time.  It helps prevent “sagging” and “bottoming out” for a jumper.

 

Fabric: 18 oz vinyl coated woven polyester for maximum durability and a puncture resistance of 390 psi.  Unlike vinyl coated nylon, which can expand and contract, this fabric holds its shape under the worst conditions.  The polyester is coated on the inside and the outside of the fabric, giving it a softness to the touch but the strength and durability to last. All section seams are heat sealed for water resistance.

 

Velcro:  Avionic grade hook and loop material exceeds grip requirements even after 5000 assembly cycles

 

Covers:  The weather and ground covers use the same super strong vinyl coated woven polyester as used in our pit casings with top and bottom heat sealed seams to keep moisture out.

 

Mesh: Top of base units are made of vinyl coated woven polyester mesh for superior strength.  The mesh top allows for the desired escape of air which provides optimal landing compression.

 

Seams:  Extra heavy #138 nylon thread is used throughout.  Seams are folded and triple stitched then welded together using a high frequency heat sealer to increase strength and provide water resistance.  D-ring straps are back stitched for added holding power.

 

 

Hardware: We have replaced our nickel plated snap hooks with a durable aluminum carabineer.  The aluminum carabineers have several great qualities:

· They are replacable.  If one breaks they are simple to remove and interchange.

· Allow quick and easy removal of the top pad.

· These clips have been tested for a breakaway point, so less damage may occur to the landing pit during a wind storm or during other mobilization.

· Inexpensive. They save you money not only on their cost, but will also help give your landing pit a longer lasting life.

Heavy duty plastic zippers are corrosion resistant for smooth operation in all conditions.  Our zippers are also sewn into folded over vinyl and are double stitched.

 

Top Pad:  2” foam encased in vinyl coated woven polyester mesh fabric covers the entire surface.  Features 8’ x 10’ preferred landing zone in white mesh fabric.

Handles: 

 

· Are made from strong 2” webbing

· Have more reinforced stitching along with the “X” stitching.

· Provide a wider area that is sown with a rugged backing.

· Are spaced for easier access and grip.

 

All these factors create a longer lasting handle that is even  tougher to rip out or destroy.

 

Velcro: One piece Velcro fastening system.  Easy to secure.

 

Bases:  Bases are interchangeable for even wear and longer life.

 

Foam:  Cross tunnel construction facilitates a smoother landing.

 

Angled Box Cutout: Specially designed 45° cutout around the box allows pole to rotate freely eliminating any contact with the pad.

 

Color Options:  The standard blue/gray color combination provides superior resistance to Ultra Violet radiation damage.  Our standard grey mesh stays cooler to the touch on hot/sunny days compared to other colored mesh.

2003 NFHS Rule Change increase safety for the pole vault.  Every Gill Landing System meets or exceeds new minimum dimension requirements by the NFHS.

· New NFHS Dimensions:

       19’ 8” wide, 16’ 5” behind the vault box, 

       26” thick

· New NCAA Dimensions

       19” 8” wide, 16’ 5” behind the vault box,

       32” thick

· Rule 7-4-14 requires a padded vault box collar

 

Regulatory Compliance: 

All our landing systems now provide a soft sweet-spot landing that is compliant with the American Society of Safety Engineers ANSIZ359.1-1992 (R1999) American National Standard fall arrest force requirements as well as the OSHA Regulation 29 CFR Section 1, 1910.66AppC, Personal Fall Arrest system force requirements.

Aluminum Platforms for High Jump Landing Systems

Made of corrosion-resistant aluminum, these platforms support the high jump landing systems above the ground to prevent water damage.  The platforms consist of individual, easy to carry and convenient to store pallets which are quickly assembled and disassembled.  The high jump platform may be carried assembled for repositioning on the track.
