To facilitate the growing environmental movement, Porter has gone a bit green! Tucked away in the pages of this website is a wealth of knowledge designed specifically to help our dealers and customers with their green or LEED initiative projects.

Some areas that might be particularly helpful are:

Product Data Sheets: Go here to get straight to business!  This is the gateway to LEED specifics.  Here each applicable credit is addressed and broken down by product for quick and efficient information gathering.

Life Cycle: This informative page let’s you know about the materials in many of Porter’s products and how to recycle them.

Information Resources: Useful links to related information including US Green Building Council, Green seal, and more.

(re)FRESH

Porter has had many eco-friendly practices in place for years such as recycling steel and aluminum, powder coating, using recycled materials such as rebonded foam, and efficient business and manufacturing processes.  To better facilitate our sustainable business practices, our customer needs, and the environment Porter is refreshing the idea of growing green.

The (Re)FRESH task force has been formed to give a fresh perspective, youthful energy, and hopeful determination to our ongoing process of growing green.

Recycling Program

Great news from (Re)Fresh!  Our company has now started an office paper and aluminum can recycling in bulk, as well as bottles and other plastics; this is in addition to the scrap metal recycling that has been in place for years.  This small yet significant change will divert hundreds of pounds of office generated material from the waste stream each year!

Along with this new program, we are hoping to make our co-workers more aware of wasteful practices and encourage them to implement more efficient strategies like double-sided printing, avoiding printing where possible, printing less, and creating documents at a smaller scale so more information can be printed on one page.

A special thanks to David Buhr for helping out with this project!

UPDATE!  In our week, we recycled 50.55lbs (or ~10 reams) of paper!  At this rate, we will have diverted 2,527.5lbs of paper from the waste stream each year!

Hopefully this number will decrease...not because of less recycling, but instead LESS PAPER used!
